Just how small are atoms? And what's inside them? The answers turn out to be astounding, even for those who think they know. This fast-paced animation uses spectacular metaphors (imagine a blueberry the size of a football stadium!) to give a visceral sense of the building blocks that make our world.

After a long career in journalism and publishing, Chris Anderson became the curator of the TED Conference in 2002 and has developed it as a platform for identifying and disseminating ideas worth spreading. In this series Chris shares his obsession with questions that no one (yet) knows the answers to. The introduction leads into two questions as follow-up films: Why can't we see evidence of alien life? and How many universes are there?
