Pod Doodle: The Rest is Politics

A Visual Synthesis of the podcast The Rest is Politics - Alastair Campbell and Rory Stewart

What happens when you slap a 54% tariff on China? This episode unpacks the domino effect of trade policy, outsourcing, and false promises of “bringing jobs home.”

PodDoodle focus: A stylised, animated argument between Uncle Sam, global supply chains, and economic reality. The imagery follows Rory’s narration closely, mapping cause to effect with wit and precision.

Take a look behind the scenes

Andrew has always illustrated ideas and they often start as pencil sketches before there transformed into one of our shiny animations. Here’s a look at an older News Agents Episode he illustrated travelling to a scribe event.

Pod Doodle: Origin Story

A Visual Synthesis of the podcast Origin Story: Night of the Living Allegory: The Politics of Zombies - Hosted by Dorian Lynskey and Ian Dunt

Zombies aren’t just horror tropes, they’re political metaphors, cultural barometers, and symbols of societal collapse.

PodDoodle focus: The illustration tracks the evolution of the zombie myth across time and territory, visualising how it reflects fear, colonialism, and modern dread.

Pod Doodle: You're Dead To Me

(You’re Dead to Me via BBC Radio 4 )

A Visual Synthesis of the podcast You’re Dead To Me: Leonardo Da Vinci (Live) broadcast August 2024 - Hosted by Greg Jenner, with Catherine Fletcher and Dara Ó Briain

Da Vinci: genius or glorified doodler? This playful episode dives into Leonardo’s inventions, half-finished paintings, and Renaissance multitasking.

PodDoodle focus: The sketch captures the discussion around Leonardo’s polymath habits, his curious brain, and the question of whether creativity needs completion to be meaningful.

Take A Look Behind
The Scenes

Andrew went back to basics and illustrated ‘You’re Dead to Me’ on his office whiteboard.

“Getting back on the whiteboard has been fun. I really love visually translating great content to see what I can come up with. Mostly it’s about understanding the information for myself. As I drew this I was reminded of working with Earth 300 for a book on the history of art for Profile Books. I made the mistake of calling Leonardo ‘da Vinci’ - for which I was scolded, and rightly so! This also annoys Greg Jenner. It’s a great podcast - sadly because Dara o Briain’s pen runs out there are less jokes in the second half! Even managed to squeeze in Brian Cox!”
